Default Chuck and Lynn Go to Mousefest!

I already started this on another board which will not be named, but thought you guys might like to read it too. It's not quite finished but I'll posted a new part each day.

A little background. One week before we were to leave on our third attempt to take a no kids WDW trip, I got a ear infection in both my ears and some virus that made me "I can't get out of the bed sick!" Less than 36 hours before we had to leave, I went to the doctor and got two shots of antibiotics which got me standing up, but not nearly as raring to go as I usually am at WDW.

Day One Part One

Are you ready for Chuck and Lynn trip report? Here we go!

After a long weekend of “will Lynn get better?”, Lynn got as better as she could and we were packed and ready to go anyway. Meme made it into town early on Tuesday and seemed confident in her ability to get the children where they needed to be, so around 10 PM, we tried to get a little sleep. (yeah right, that’s not happening!) At 1:30 AM we jumped out of bed (okay I exaggerate, but we were excited.) and hit the road. I took the first shift Irmo, SC to Kingsland, GA. Chuck had loaded up our MP3 player with all our favorite podcasts and it was especially fun to listen to the podcasters that were also on their way to Mousefest. The excitement was contagious!
Before I knew it, we were in Kingsland and stopping at the our same Citigo. Sure, the clerks may be a little more pierced and tattooed than your average person, but even at 4 AM they are friendly and the bathroom is clean. What more can you ask for?

Chuck looks ready to drive his shift. LOL

I curled up in the back seat and slept all the way to Daytona Beach. The good thing about no kids is I can lay down in the back seat for my nap and not have to contort myself in the front seat with luggage on my lap. I’ve never slept that long on a trip (usually much too excited).

I was so glad to see this familiar sight.

This was our first stay at the Caribbean Beach resort so we were very anxious to see the grounds and rooms. Unlike other resorts, the check in is in a separate building from the food court and shops called the Customs House.

It had a great feel to it. I guess the island feeling is easy to pull off in Florida.

Check in went quickly and I got to see the first of many Caribbean Christmas decorations.

The CM said our room was ready and that we were in Trinidad South. I could tell from the map it was far from the Food court, but I was really feeling bad and just wanted to get our room and put our stuff away. That was my first mistake.

We left the Customs House and began to drive. Finally, we found our building, the very last building at the very edge of the resort.

It wasn’t Trinidad South. It was North Pop Century!! Seriously. We could see the bowling pins from our building. Chuck swears he heard the Hustle one afternoon.

The grounds themselves were beautifully landscaped and very quiet. We found out later it was because we were the only ones in that building.

Continued in next post!

Our building was old and definitely in need of a refurb. Here is our room. Come on in!

We had two double beds. The rooms are bigger than the other moderates and we could definitely tell.

We had a nice little sitting area.

Entertainment center and a seat with a nice big drawer. Fridge is in the blue cabinet.

The faucet has the resort name just in case you need to know it when you are in the shower.

The shower wall had a cool pattern to look like a carving.

There was a cute little hidden mickey on the bed spread.

And a lovely picture of Castaway Cay on the wall. (a little advertising there.)

A last but not least, our view.

After a quick unpack, we realize we are starving. Let’s take a walk to the Food Court. How far can it really be?

That was my second mistake.

Hi Lynn! So glad you are posting your TR here - I don't seem to get on those other boards very often anymore. I love the reports you and Chuck write. You two always seem to have the best time together and have such a lovely family.

We are staying at CBR in May for the 2nd time. The first time we didn't have the best experience but we are giving it a second chance. I think we may have been in the same room you were on our last trip there - don't think we could have been any further from the main building! We are looking forward to seeing all the refurbishments they've done.

Looking forward to more!

Yay! Now I can keep up with you on a regular basis. I so rarely get over to that "other" board, so I miss lots of updates. Glad to see that you're going to post it here! Thanks, Lynn!

I can't wait to hear more from this TR. My first onsite stay was at CBR so I have a soft spot for it in my heart.. though yes, you room can be quite far from everything if you are in the wrong location.

I remember being 16 years old and doing the limbo to the carribean music into the main lobby area to check in with my family! what a great memory!

Default Thanks! :)

Thanks for posting that here! It just took me on a roadtrip and back to WDW, which is always a good thing!

You all have the best sense of humor! I love it! Chuck could hear The Hustle? At least was it playing on steel drums?

Thanks again, and I look forward to hearing more..
