Default Tokyo Disney Resort ~ Halloween Trip

Where: Tokyo Disney Resort ~ Disneyland and Sea
Who: Melo-chan (Melody) & Dora-chan (That's me, Cassandra)
When: October 31 & November 1st
Why: Because it's Halloween! And that means COSTUMES at Tokyo Disneyland!!

*TDL= Tokyo Disneyland
*TDS= Tokyo Disney Sea

Day One 5.30 a.m. Takamatsu
Melo-chan and I met bright eyed and bushy tailed at the bus station. We caught the first bus to the airport to begin our journey. This was her first ever Disney experience. We got the first flight to Tokyo and took the bus from Hanada to Tokyo Disney Resort.
We arrived at Tokyo Disney Resort around 10.20 a.m., threw our packs into lockers and headed straight into TDL!
After we passed through the gates we made a bee line to get our first fast pass for Monsters Inc. Hide and Seek. Sadly, they were out of fast passes for the day for that ride. So we continued to Space Mountain to grab one there. (I will mention right here that the park was a wee bit crowded.)

With that important task taken care of we decided to hit up the castle to take in our surroundings.

We took a moment for it all to set in and then put ourselves to the task of seeing who was out and about around the castle. We were in luck and got to meet many different characters! (At TDL guests are allowed to dress in full costume for Halloween.)

Not only do the guests dress up, but they have practiced poses that they get into when asked to photograph them! I especially like the ones who dye their hair for their costume instead of wearing a wig! You have to admire their commitment!

After a bit of mingling with some of our favourite characters we headed to Splash Mountain. The queue was long, but we had a good time waiting and chatting with a group girls in front of us.

After Splash we took it easy and snapped some more photos of park guests and the park decorations as we made our way back towards Space Mountain for our fast pass return time.

All the princesses and princes in one place! Score!

This little boy was too cute! He took his role very seriously!

A cram school, I mean some dalmatians....

Then we grabbed a Mickey ice cream and prepared ourselves for Space Mountain!

By this time we were feeling a bit peckish and decided that some food was in order. We settled on some "beef with Korean vegetables" wrap and some iced oolong tea to wash it down with.

~YUMMY!

Then we swung by Monsters Inc. Hide and Seek to check out the standby queue. There was NO ONE in the standby line! I asked a cast member what was going on and she said that the standby queue was shut for the day and that only fast pass holders could enter. It was THAT busy!!! She told me that they had shut the queue around 11.30 a.m.!!!
NOTE: We actually only got the one fast pass at TDL. The one for Space Mountain, ALL fast passes were gone for EVERY attraction by noon!!
~But no worries we decided to head over to Pirates to rest our feet a bit. On the way over we met a really cool family!!

We got to POC and to our surprise we met a very friendly little alien! No, it wasn't Stitch, it was a GREEN ALIEN!

(Isn't taking photos of random strangers in line fun!? Good times, ne?)

After POC we felt the need for some adventures of a jungle persuasion. So we took a ride on the Jungle Cruise Japanese style.

Next was Haunted Mansion with the Nightmare Before Christmas overlay. Always a good time!

We ducked into some shops after HM and Melo-chan tried on some merchandize.

The Bonzai Villains parade was going to start soon. So we took advantage of it and hoofed it to Space Mountain for a shorter wait time.
After Space Mountain we grabbed a quick supper. Mickey-ear shaped nikumon!

Soooo yummy! ~With cinnamon churros for dessert!

From there we meandered over to Big Thunder Mountain hitting it just right during the Electrical Dreamlights Parade.

Me & Melo-chan

All in all it was a great day at TDL. On our way out we even got to meet Stitch and Angel!

next up... day two ~ Disney Sea!

Default Day Two

After a day of adventures at TDL we grabbed our packs from the lockers and set off for our hotel. We didn't stay at a "Disney" hotel... too expensive. But we stayed at a Disney Partner Hotel, the Tokyo Bay Maihama Hotel. I was very excited when we got to our room, it was orange! My favourite colour!

I thought that things couldn't get any better and then we looked out the window and saw:

DAY TWO ~ TOKYO DISNEY SEA!

We caught the resort monorail to Disney Sea and arrived just at rope drop. We went straight to Tower of Terror to grab a fast pass. Then trekked to Journey to the Center of the Earth (my most favourite attraction!)

The wait was pretty short there and we knocked it out quickly. Melo-chan loving the ride as much as I do!! She's a gal after my own heart! She loved Space Mountain too!!!

After Journey we ambled over to 20,000 Leagues Under the Sea. Melo-chan had just finished reading the book and was keen to see how Disney translated it into the attraction.

Sporting Minnie ears in the queue!

Details from the queue for 20,000 Leagues.

Exiting 20,000 Leagues ~ such a great job with the theme of Mysterious Island.

Next was Mermaid Lagoon. (Going from point A to point B in TDS can be daunting sometimes. Often there is not a direct route from place to place. It's a park that you do A LOT of walking at.)

It's really beautiful... Much of the exterior is tiled. If you look you can spot some hidden Mickeys!

But beware! If you don't pay attention, it can be a dangerous place!!

Luckily I was able to jump out of the way just in the nick of time!

After my brush with death, we entered King Triton's Kingdom.

The area is gorgeous with a very "under water" feel to it. I can't imagine how children feel when they are here! I wander about looking this way and that with an awed look on my face!

We caught the Little Mermaid musical show. It's a fun show and the costumes/puppets are very well done. You can tell that the performers really love what they do. The songs are in English but the dialogue is Japanese.

We swung back by Journey to the Center of the Earth to grab a fast pass and then it was on to the Arabian Coast.

Melo-chan loves carousels so we queued up for the double decker carousel that to me looks a lot like The Dome of the Rock.

Queue for the carousel.

Thanks Marci! Glad you like them! I took heaps of photos and will throw some extras up at the end... I may not be able to do it all tonight, but think I will at least finish the report before I have to go to bed.

I hope that you can make it to Japan/Tokyo Disney someday! It really is a lot of fun. If I am still living in Japan then I will be sure to come and meet you in Tokyo!

WOW, again!!

Cassandra, you and Melo chan had a great time there, huh? You know what? I haven't done ToT and Raising Split ones YET, and I don't know when I can do those. Center of the Earth is one of my favorite rides there, it's very cool, isn't it?

Now you make me want to go back to Tokyo Disney Sea....ummmm.... well, I'll wait for two more years until my friends will come from US, hahaha.

Thank you SO much for sharing!!
